Kyle Monangai a nonparticipant on estimated injury report, leaving Chicago Bears RB’s Week 8 status in doubt

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai was listed as a nonparticipant on Thursday’s injury report, an estimation because the team didn’t practice.

Monangai is listed with thumb and toe injuries, but the toe issue has kept him out of the last three games.

By the team’s estimation, Monangai would have missed the first day of practice in preparation for the Week 8 game against the Seahawks on Monday night in Seattle. The Bears will issue reports Friday and Saturday, when his final game status likely will be determined.

Despite missing half of their one-two punch with D’Andre Swift, the Bears have maintained the No. 1 rushing offense in the league at 154.3 yards per game. But the Seahawks rank sixth in rushing defense (89.4 ypg) and No. 1 overall (233.9).

Meanwhile, Bears cornerback Malik Muhammad II, who left the Week 7 win against the New England Patriots in the third quarter, was limited with a toe injury in the estimated report. D’Marco Jackson (ankle) also was limited, while fellow linebackers T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and Jack Sanborn (concussion) were designated as full participants.

In other news, in the wake of the blockbuster trade for Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons, the Bears released defensive lineman Jamree Kromah on Thursday. The team signed former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Josh Butler to the practice squad.
