Buffalo Grove Park District wants input on future projects

Buffalo Grove Park District patrons can provide their feedback on upcoming projects and bring their dogs along at a meeting Wednesday with district officials.

The Community Input Meeting is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lazy Dog restaurant, 51 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove.

Officials are exploring how to fund the next round of park improvements and would like to hear from residents as part of the planning. Attendees will learn how park districts fund major projects and hear about past projects the district has asked voters to support.

Residents also can provide input about which projects matter most to them.

Laurie Hoffman, the district’s planning and development manager, calls it an “informal conversation” held on the dog-friendly restaurant’s patio.

“We really want to just improve our communication with the community,” Hoffman said.

Topics will include progress on the district’s construction projects, as well as the master plans for the Alcott Center, Longfellow Park and the facility building at Emmerich Park, Hoffman said.

Other projects include ongoing renovations at Apple Hill and Windsor Ridge parks and an upcoming water pipe replacement at the Alcott Center.

Both Apple Hill and Windsor Ridge should be completed by the end of November, according to Executive Director Erika Strojinc.

However, due to unforeseen infrastructure repairs at other facilities, the original plans for Veterans Park had to be scaled back, Strojinc wrote in the district’s fall program guide.
