Here’s how to see author Rebecca Yarros when she comes to Naperville

Bestselling author Rebecca Yarros is doing just three book tour stops for her new novel, “Peculiar Stars,” and one of them will be in Naperville.

Yarros, author of more than 20 books, including the romantic fantasy novel series “The Empyrean,” will appear at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., in an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville.

At the event, Yarros will be in conversation with her editor Lauren Plude and will take questions from the audience.

Tickets cost $41 (plus a $2.89 handling fee), include a copy of the new book and are on sale at events.humanitix.com/rebecca-yarros-peculiar-stars/tickets.

Kerry Clemm, marketing manager for Anderson’s, said there will be a little more than 1,000 tickets available, which are expected to sell out quickly.

“We don’t have a wait list and we don’t participate in any third-party sales or manage anything like that,” she said. “So it’s either through us and once it’s sold out, like we are sold out. They’re gone.”

The last time Yarros was in Naperville was on Nov. 11, 2023, for her book “Iron Flame.”

“We’re very lucky to have worked with Rebecca previously,” Clemm said. “She came through on her tour last time and we just got along very well. … We were very excited to find out that we got a stop.”

Yarros’ latest novel, “Peculiar Stars,” is a “slow-burn romance about love, family and what it means to become the truest version of yourself,” according to a book description.

The new novel follows Callista Moran, who has spent her whole life caring for others and putting her own plans on hold. Once she announces her engagement to Darren Knight, she thinks her future is set. However, her plans go awry after she finds herself stranded on an island for 18 months with an ex-Army medic named Dominic, according to the book description.

“When they’re finally found, the world hasn’t changed. But they have. In the height of a modern media frenzy, learning to live as the people they’ve become will challenge not only their definition of survival, but love,” according to the synopsis.

When Yarros last came to Naperville, a cyberattack on the company selling the tickets to the event brought ticket sales to a halt temporarily. It’s a situation the book store does not expect will be repeated, Clemm said.

“We do have a new ticketing provider that we’re doing this on sale through because the last one crashed quite a bit, so we’re hoping for a much smoother ride this time,” Clemm said.
