Alleluia! Lutheran to host Trunk-or-Treat with charitable twist
Alleluia! Lutheran Church in Naperville will host a Trunk-or-Treat that gives back on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The event, which is open to the public, takes place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in both the church’s parking lot and in lower-level activity rooms, 4055 S. Book Road.
Besides the festively decorated vehicle trunks, carnival-style games in the church’s Rec Center and plenty of take-home treats, Trunk-or-Treat offers the chance for attendees to participate in service projects.
Guests can decorate homemade greeting cards to be delivered to local homebound seniors and assisted-living residents and/or help pack shoeboxes with small toys, games and books for Operation Christmas Child, a nationwide initiative delivering holiday gifts to children ages 2-14 across the world.
Attendees are invited to bring one small toy or game to pack into the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.
“It’s such a great event because it lets people make a positive impact while they’re out here having some Halloween fun,” says April Blair, director of children’s ministry at Alleluia! Lutheran Church. “Kids and adults get to participate together, get to give back together, and show love both for older adults in our community and for kids across the globe. It’s really a beautiful tradition, and a lot of fun.”
Alleluia! Lutheran Church, a member of the Chicago-based ELCA, is a welcoming faith community with Sunday worship at 9 and 10:30 a.m. For information, visit alleluialutheran.org or call 630-904-3311.
