Developer plans affordable senior housing in Geneva
A developer has proposed building 44 apartments for seniors on the west side of Geneva.
The Geneva Planning and Zoning Commission will review a conceptual plan for Blackberry Drive Senior Housing at its meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
Northpointe Development wants to build what it calls “affordable” housing on the south side of Bricher Road at Blackberry Drive. The 1.25-acre lot is part of a planned unit development that was approved in 2000.
The apartments would be near the Greenwich Square townhouse subdivision, and close to a Walgreens store and a strip shopping center.
The concept calls for 33 one-bedroom apartments and 11 two-bedroom apartments, according to a memo on the city website.
It does not discuss what rents would be or financing for the project.
Wisconsin-based Northpointe built a 48-unit senior apartment building in Yorkville.
The meeting is at City Hall, 22 S. First St.
