Q&A
What is your view on the role of tariffs in the American economy? Do you support the president’s policies on setting tariffs on goods from other countries?
To revitalize our domestic industrial base and defend American producers from predatory foreign competition, I advocate for strategic tariffs, particularly on Chinese imports. For too long, unchecked 'free trade' policies have incentivized the outsourcing of our critical supply chains. We must transition to 'fair trade' frameworks that prioritize economic security and American labor. Sustaining these tariff policies is vital to stimulating industrial growth in the 6th District. I firmly oppose rolling back these protections, as restoring our economic independence requires companies to build, invest, and hire right here at home.
What should Congress do to protect Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid? Will Congress act in time to prevent significant cuts in Social Security benefits?
Social Security is an essential program that must be preserved, yet its future is currently threatened by unchecked federal borrowing and extensive fraud. Congress continues to run up the deficit on nonessential foreign programs, unfairly shifting the economic burden onto hardworking American families. To secure the long-term solvency of our domestic safety nets without placing new burdens on current beneficiaries, I will champion statutory spending caps across the federal budget. By reining in radical spending agendas and limiting our national debt, we can protect vital programs for people that rely on them.
How do you rate the state of health care in America? In particular, what are your views on the Affordable Care Act and the concept of Medicare for All?
When I speak with families and small business owners across Illinois, the message is clear: Obamacare has made healthcare completely unaffordable. With shrinking choices and skyrocketing out-of-pocket costs, patients are paying more and getting less. We do not need a massive government takeover of healthcare like Medicare for All; we need practical solutions that actually empower patients. I will push for real transparency in medical billing so you know exactly what you are paying for before you receive care. By expanding Health Savings Accounts and allowing you to shop for insurance across state lines, we can finally force insurance companies to compete for your business and drive down prices.
How would you describe the working relationships in the U.S. House today? What can be done to promote more effective government in Congress, and what will you do personally to work toward this goal?
While hyper-partisanship paralyzes Washington, my legislative strategy will be anchored in a strict 'district-first' mentality. Every bill and proposal will be evaluated against a single metric: its direct benefit to the people of the 6th District. Effective governance requires building coalitions around universally urgent issues, such as the affordability crisis. I am ready to reach across the aisle to create legislation that lowers the cost-of-living burden on working families.
Do you believe the nation's election system and those of the individual states are secure and fair? If not, what must be done to improve them?
Every voter in the 6th District deserves to know that their voice is heard and their vote is protected. Right now, public confidence in our election system needs to be restored through rigorous, common-sense standards. We accept that presenting a photo ID is a basic requirement for everyday tasks like getting on a plane—voting shouldn't be any different. I will push for federal safeguards that protect your vote: requiring proof of citizenship and three forms of ID to register and ensuring everyone shows a government-issued photo ID at the polls to guarantee a fair, secure election.
If elected, what will you do to help make Congress more effective?
You elect representatives to write laws, not to hand that power over to unelected federal agencies. Washington’s bloated bureaucracy is driving up costs and wasting your money, all while Congress hides behind massive omnibus bills stuffed with special interest handouts. I am running to bring accountability back to the House. I will fight to restore Congress's true legislative role, push for collaboration, and prioritize strict audits to root out the waste, fraud, and abuse draining our national treasury.
