Naperville man dies after being hit by a car while crossing Ogden Avenue Tuesday

Authorities say a 58-year-old Naperville man died after being hit by a car Tuesday night while walking across Ogden Avenue.

Naperville police said officers responded just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of East Ogden and Sherman avenues.

Officers arrived to find the man lying in the eastbound lanes of Ogden and a damaged 2024 Blue Volkswagen sedan. The man received medical attention on the scene and was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the Volkswagen was traveling eastbound on Ogden when it struck the pedestrian, who was walking southbound across the road.

Eastbound Ogden was closed for over three hours due to the ensuing investigation.

The crash remains under investigation, and no citations have been issued or criminal charges filed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit at (630) 420-6117.
