New business director joins Des Plaines Park District
The Des Plaines Park District has a new business director.
Nahid Khumawala succeeds Annette Curtis, who retired in August. She will oversee the park district’s business department, financial management and information technology operations, according to a news release.
“I am honored to become part of the Des Plaines Park District and look forward to working with the talented staff and leadership team,” Khumawala said in the release. “I am excited to contribute to an organization that has such a meaningful impact on the community and the quality of life of its residents.”
Khumawala had been Round Lake Beach’s assistant finance director. She has extensive experience in financial management, business operations and organizational leadership, the news release said.
“We are excited to welcome Nahid to the Des Plaines Park District,” Executive Director Donald Miletic said in the release. “Her knowledge, leadership experience, and commitment to excellence will be valuable assets as we continue to responsibly manage district resources and serve our residents.”
Miletic selected Khumawala for the job. Her hiring didn’t require a board vote.
Khumawala started at the park district in August with a base salary of about $145,000 a year, parks officials said.
At the time of her retirement, Curtis’ base salary was about $151,000 a year, officials said.
Curtis had been with the district as its business director for more than four years.
Thirty-two people had applied for the job opening, and six were interviewed, officials said.
