What wasn’t said about Constitution, immigration
In the “Your Views” section Sept. 28, Javeed Akhter attempts to “educate” Americans on our Constitution and an ancient Islam Constitution.
In regards to the U.S. Constitution he states “It is not perfect and, yes, the crafters were property-owning men.” He implies that this is a bad thing. Spoken like a true socialist. He goes on to state “There are no explicit protections against majoritarianism.” Yes, there are two of them. One is called the Senate in which each state — regardless of population — is entitled to two senators. The other is the Electoral College which prevents states with large populations from controlling all of the federal government.
In the article, he praises Ronald Reagan for taking a humane approach with immigration but of course demonizes President Trump for his approach. What he doesn’t say is that immigration was not in crisis mode when Reagan took office. In fact Reagan’s predecessor — President Carter — applied immigration laws and only allowed 530,000 immigrants into the US.
Contrast this with Biden who ignored immigration laws and allowed in millions of unvetted illegal immigrants. That is a crisis for any country. Biden claimed he needed immigration reform in order to control illegal immigration. Yet within a month of taking office, President Trump had the border under control.
