Palatine man charged with sexual abuse of minor

A 25-year-old Palatine man faces charges alleging he sexually abused a minor, police said Tuesday.

Angel Valencia Alvarado was arrested Sept. 30 on two counts related to child sexual abuse material and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Palatine police.

He remains in custody pending a scheduled court appearance Oct. 23.

The arrest followed an investigation launched July 11 after a minor reported an adult male recorded their sexual encounter in the 1200 block of East Dundee Road, police said.

Anyone who believes they may have had a similar experience involving Valencia Alvarado is asked to call Palatine police at (847) 359-9000.
