There are five political 'parties'

Thursday's Daily Herald has a letter stating that Democrats want to defund the police. That group is in reality the democratic socialists, who are a sect unto themselves that spouts ridiculous and unworkable concepts that Barack Obama-era Democrats reject. It would be just as short-sighted to confuse Republicans with MAGA Republicans. Republicans would never elect a racist, thieving, molesting, profiteering, self-dealing moral cesspool to represent them throughout the world (and those offenses include the adjudicated ones). John McCain-era Republicans have far too much integrity than to endorse that depth of venality.

Let's face it. There are now five political “parties”: Democrats, Republicans, democratic socialists, MAGA Republicans and independents. We can be thankful that at least three of them are reasonable enough to work with each other for the general good instead of wallowing in self-centered mentally myopic fantasy.
