‘Edgy’ Tim: Recruiting updates from Downers Grove and Naperville

Downers Grove North junior safety Connor Crowley (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) has continued to draw steady recruiting interest this fall and has been making some college game-day visits.

“I was able to make a game-day visit on Saturday to Wisconsin,” he said. “Last weekend I was able to make another game-day visit to Nebraska and I really enjoyed both visits.

“(Wisconsin) went great. I really liked the city and the overall environment in Madison. The atmosphere at the game was awesome and the jump around tradition was definitely one of the coolest parts of the day. I also really liked the campus at Wisconsin and everything I was able to see.”

Nebraska also made a strong first impression.

“Nebraska football is just sweet and the overall environment is really a big deal,” he said. “The facilities and the fan support are impressive. Everyone at Nebraska was just very nice and they provided great hospitality. The coaches like my video so far and want me to stay in contact with them and keep sending them my game videos.”

Next up for Crowley will be game-day visits to Michigan State (this Saturday), Miami of Ohio (Oct. 17) and Northwestern (Oct. 24).

Naperville Central’s Williams visit Iowa State

Naperville Central junior wide receiver Mark Williams (5-11, 165 pounds) is a speedy receiver whose recruiting stock has risen. Williams has made a handful of recent game-day visits including Saturday's stop at Iowa State.

“I've made game-day visits so far to Northwestern, Cincinnati and now Iowa State,” Williams said. “I've been able to learn more about each school, see which offense they run and how they utilize the receivers as well.

“Iowa State overall was a good visit on Saturday. I enjoyed talking with the receiver coach (Derek Sherman) along with some of the recruiting staff on the visit. The Iowa State coaches liked my sophomore year video and want me to keep sending them my film from this season. I really like the school along with the football program at Iowa State.”

Look for Williams to take in some additional upcoming game-day visits.

“I'm set to make game-day visits to Kansas State (Oct. 17), Iowa (Oct. 31), Notre Dame (Nov. 14) along with Wyoming (Nov. 20). All of the college coaches know that if we are playing in the state playoffs on those dates, that is where I will be that weekend. My team always comes first.”

Keep an eye on Naperville North’s Trasatt

Naperville North (6-1, 4-0 DuPage Valley Conference) is having a strong season. Keep an eye on one standout player and recruit for the remainder of the season: senior tight end Aiden Trasatt (6-4, 240 pounds). He missed the first three games with an injury but he’s now healthy and is drawing increased recruiting looks. Trasatt has offers from several FCS schools and is getting attention from higher level D1 schools. College coaches love his combination of size, athletic ability and physicality, especially blocking in the running game.
