Football roundup: Naperville North, Lake Park, Fenton, Glenbard East, Glenbard South secure wins

Quarterback Dante Colasante threw for 114 yards and three touchdowns to lift DuPage Valley Conference leader Naperville North (6-1, 4-0) to a 42-14 victory against DeKalb Friday night in Naperville.

Sophomore tailback Vic Tyson got things started for the Huskies with his 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. Tyson finished with 102 yards on seven carries.

After the Barbs tied it at 7, Colasante connected with Jack Zitko (five catches, 81 yards) for two second-quarter touchdowns covering 33 and six yards, respectively, as the Huskies grabbed a 21-7 halftime advantage.

Colasante tossed a 27-yard scoring strike to Shawn Kyereh on the opening possession of the second half to make it 28-7 before senior linebacker John Lyons’ 34-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, and Brendon Wickert’s 13-yard touchdown run capped the scoring.

Lake Park 35, St. Charles East 21: Senior quarterback Tay Smith threw for 230 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, added 110 rushing yards with two scores, and averaged 40 yards per punt for Lake Park. Senior outside linebacker Carter Magnus celebrated his 18th birthday with a late 28-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal the Lancers’ DuKane Conference victory. Junior receiver TJ Ogunribido gave the Lancers (2-5, 1-4) an early 7-0 lead when he caught a pass from Smith in the flat and raced 81 yards to the end zone. Johnny Solano scored on a three-yard run in the third quarter to tie the score at 14-14 for the Saints (3-4, 1-4), who allowed 21 unanswered fourth-quarter points.

Fenton 28, Ridgewood 18: Senior tailback Angel Duran ran for three touchdowns covering 49, 40 and nine yards, respectively, during Fenton’s Upstate Eight East victory in Bensenville. Quarterback Luke Loncar added a 56-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Medrano for the Bison (3-4, 1-3 UEC East).

Glenbard East 41, West Chicago 8: The Rams (5-2, 5-0) extended their winning streak to five while setting up an Upstate Eight East title showdown with Riverside-Brookfield next week. Malachi Miller got the Rams on the scoreboard with a 60-yard touchdown run and later caught a 54-yard scoring pass from sophomore quarterback Carter Pohlman. Max Stachura scored on a 15-yard run, Montii Perry had a 20-yard touchdown run, and the Rams returned a fumble 10 yards for another score while building a 41-0 lead. West Chicago is now 2-5, 1-3.

Glenbard South 41, Elmwood Park 0: Quarterback Tommy Bauman tossed five touchdown passes during the Raiders’ shutout victory in Elmwood Park. Bauman connected with junior Elias Henry for a 23-yard touchdown for the Raiders (5-2, 4-1). Junior tailback Elijah Donahue ran for 26-yard touchdown and Bauman connected with Jordyn Warren for a 49-yard scoring strike to make it 21-0 after one quarter. Bauman tossed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Baldauf on the first play of the second quarter, extending the lead to 28-0, before connecting with Warren and Baldauf on scoring strikes of 42 and 47 yards, respectively.

Bishop McNamara 34, Wheaton Academy 28: Zane Gulley provided the go-ahead touchdown run from five yards out early in the fourth quarter, and Bishop McNamara’s defense thwarted a late Wheaton Academy comeback inside the red zone during Friday’s Chicagoland Christian contest in Kankakee. The Warriors (6-1, 4-1) marched into Bishop McNamara territory late on a long Ethan Brooks run before turning the ball over on downs following a failed fourth-and-goal play from the 5-yard line with less than a minute remaining.

Elgin 52, East Aurora 28: Senior running back Anthony Foster scored a personal-high five touchdowns during the Maroons’ come-from-behind Upstate Eight West victory. Foster found the end zone on runs covering one, four, 19, 19 and 54 yards as Elgin improved to 4-3, 3-1. Junior Cayden Richardson returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown, and senior quarterback Jacob Rufino tossed touchdown passes to Dan Beckett (26 yards) and Ja’Miere Moore (29 yards) for the Maroons.

Streamwood 40, Larkin 24: The Sabres (3-4, 1-3) became playoff eligible for the first time since 2011 with an Upstate Eight West victory over Larkin (0-7, 0-4), spoiling the Royals’ first game on their home campus in school history. Senior tailback Justin Brown scored four touchdowns for the Sabres, and quarterback Aden Sanchez added a pair of touchdown runs. Brian Watson tossed two touchdown passes for the Royals, and Ivan Anderson added a 20-yard scoring run.

Montini 49, De La Salle 6: Senior quarterback Izzy Abrams connected with wide receiver Damacio Ortegon on a pair of 48-yard touchdown passes as the Broncos (5-2) built a 42-0 halftime lead on their way to a convincing victory over the Meteors in Chicago. Defensively, Johnny Louise led the way with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown, while sophomore Patrick Gabriel added a late 37-yard touchdown run.

Addison Trail 48, Proviso East 0: Junior tailbacks Ayden Smith and Michael Clementi combined for five rushing touchdowns during the Blazers’ West Suburban Gold victory in Maywood. Smith scored on touchdown runs of 11, 21 and 34 yards, and Clementi added touchdown runs of 33 and 40 yards as the Blazers (5-2, 3-2) won their third straight.

Aurora Central Catholic 28, Westmont 0: Aidan Crisci scored a pair of touchdowns to lift the Chargers (2-5) to a nonconference triumph over host Westmont (4-1). Quarterback Griffin Curry added a 39-yard touchdown pass to Leo Corral for ACC after Crisci’s 79-yard touchdown run opened the scoring.

Huntley 41, Prairie Ridge 6: The Red Raiders (7-0, 7-0) earned their seventh straight victory of the season in Crystal Lake. Junior quarterback Malik Carter threw four touchdown passes, including a 75-yard strike to Easton Garifo and a 48-yard connection with Matthew Schroeder. Garifo added an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Tailback Chase Hojnacki scored on a two-yard run, as the Red Raiders continued their offensive barrage.

Jacobs 41, Crystal Lake Central 6: Junior quarterback Austin Stennett tossed a pair of touchdown passes, and Nick Meyer added two touchdown runs during the Golden Eagles’ Fox Valley Conference home win. Jacobs improved to 6-1, 6-1.

Cary-Grove 55, Dundee-Crown 23: Leo Zavala scored a pair of touchdowns on runs covering 33 and nine yards during the Trojans’ Fox Valley Conference win in Cary. Sham Prude provided a highlight with a 90-yard touchdown burst through the middle of the field, and Ty Tenopir added a 70-yard touchdown run. Travis Evelo added a 60-yard touchdown run and an interception for Cary-Grove (5-2, 5-2). Tristan Gatenby had a five-yard touchdown run for the Chargers (3-4, 3-4).

Burlington Central 27, McHenry 6: The Rockets (5-2, 5-2) pocketed their third consecutive Fox Valley Conference victory behind junior quarterback Reece Beemer’s two touchdown passes. Senior tailback Parker Auxier added a 51-yard touchdown run, as host Burlington Central built a 21-0 halftime advantage.

Hampshire 27, Crystal Lake South 7: Tyler Lacke ran for a 60-yard touchdown and caught a 25-yard scoring pass during Hampshire’s Fox Valley Conference home win. Quarterback Griffin Chamberlain threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Karwacki and added a four-yard touchdown run for the Whip-Purs (4-3, 4-3).

Kaneland 56, LaSalle-Peru 7: Quarterback Brody Guthrie threw for 213 yards and four touchdowns, including three to Cooper Stombres, during the Knights’ Interstate Eight victory in Maple Park. Guthrie connected with Stombres on touchdown passes covering 18, 25 and 90 yards as Kaneland improved to 6-1, 3-1.
