Chamber Music on the Fox opens season with ‘Golden Hour’ concert Oct. 4-5

Join Chamber Music on the Fox for its season premiere, “Golden Hour: An Autumnal Music Experience,” on Oct. 4-5.

This concert will feature beloved classical masters alongside new composers in a program that will showcase each instrument at different points, creating a special moment for each timbre to come through the texture.

Hear Beethoven’s “Eyeglass” duet for viola and cello, a rare lighthearted work from this composer; two trios by Mozart and Brahms; and solo works for viola and clarinet.

The featured artists are Trevor O’Riordan, clarinet; Rebecca Swan, viola; Sara Sitzer, cello; and Liang-yu Wang, piano.

The concert will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora; and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at First Congregational Church of Dundee, 900 S. Eighth St. in West Dundee. Tickets are $25 or $15 for students. Visit chambermusiconthefox.org.

The next concert will feature the Quintet Attacca in “Melting Pot.” Performances will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora, and 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at First Congregational Church, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin. This five-piece wind ensemble will offer an international program with music from Valerie Coleman, Samuel Barber, Astor Piazzolla, Franz Danzi, Paquito d’Rivera, and Alyssa Morris.
