Visit Lake County launches Spooks & Spirits Lake County Autumn Celebration
Visit Lake County welcomes the arrival of fall with the annual “Spooks & Spirits Lake County Autumn Celebration,” focusing on Halloween, anchored by Six Flags Great America’s Fright Fest presented by Snickers, complemented by pumpkin farms, haunted houses, fall festivals and local breweries, wineries and distilleries as key drivers of tourism during September and October.
By showcasing the region’s seasonal activities and beloved holiday celebrations, VLC aims to strengthen their brand and attract visitors throughout the season.
The Spooks & Spirits Lake County Autumn Celebration launched in mid-September featuring a diverse lineup of seasonal events, festivities and the Lake County Libation Trail.
The LCLT component of the campaign runs Oct. 1-31, featuring a monthlong Check-In Challenge. Libation enthusiasts, residents and visitors ages 21 and older are encouraged to visit five or more of the over-25 participating venues on the LCLT for a chance to be enrolled to win the grand prize: the 95 WIIL-Rock (95.1 WIIL-FM) Libation Trail Bus Tour for up to 10 guests, complete with a guided tour of three destinations, drink samples and appearances by the radio station’s personalities, in partnership with VLC.
To participate in the Spooks & Spirits Check-in Challenge, visitors and residents alike will scan the QR code found on coasters and posters at any participating location to launch and access their mobile pass after purchasing their beverage of choice. Libation-ers can also capture a photo of the experience providing patrons with an additional check in. The one Grand Prize winner, will be selected at random.
“Fall is one of our busiest and most exciting season, and Spooks & Spirits helps turn a single-day visit into a full weekend getaway,” VLC President John Maguire said. “Families can spend the day in corn mazes and pumpkin patches, thrill-seekers can brave Fright Fest and our haunted attractions, and the parents can wind down with a locally made brew, wine or spirit along the Libation Trail. There’s truly something for every kind of Halloween/autumn fan.”
