Schaumburg Township hosts its first Veterans Resource Fair Oct. 3

Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend Schaumburg Township’s first Veteran Resource Fair on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Meet with local vendors sharing veteran resources while enjoying some doughnuts and coffee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the township office, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

The following vendors/organizations will be in attendance: American Legion, CapTel Captioned Telephone, Honor Flight Chicago, Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, Illinois State Treasurer, Navy Federal Credit Union, Northwest Suburban Woman’s Club, Northwestern Medicine Living, Regional Transportation Authority, Senior Services, Schaumburg Township Assessors’ Office, VA Assistance, and Veterans Legal Aide.

No registration is needed for this free event.

Cleaning basics supply drive

From Oct. 1-30, the township is collecting new cleaning supplies to be donated to newly housed veterans in our area. Suggested supplies to donate: vacuum, broom and dustpan, toilet brush, toilet plunger, sponges, mop and bucket, duster, multi-purpose cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, glass cleaner and dish towels.

Monetary donations help the township purchase supplies in bulk. Donate online by visiting the donation page and choosing “Veteran Cleaning Basics Supply Drive” in the drop down menu, schaumburgtownship.org.
