The United States government, under the administration of the current president, has refused White House press credentials to a select group of American news organizations. Does the Daily Herald intend to have a meaningful response? I suggest the Herald refuse to print articles of White House events and statements, as well as any presidential activity or statements.
You will of course, at first, reject such an idea. You will believe the readers’ right to know what goes on inside this United States government, under the current stewardship of this current president, is much too important to warrant a retaliatory response.
I believe a response is required. In the past you published articles telling us voters were unhappy with Democratic politicians refusing to stand up to the new presidential administration. When the current president was using executive orders to advance what should have been legislation, we were appalled. When the current president was using yes men and yes women to intimidate universities, law firms, television networks, and others, many of us were hoping for someone with a backbone.
I’m now telling you, I will be unhappy if you don’t stand up for your colleagues that have been banned. Just a statement referring to the First Amendment and the public right to know is not enough; it is not a sufficient response. This current presidential administration does not respond to words of disgust, to words expressing an appalled public. Do something to make yourself proud.
