Hanover Township scheduling appointments for winter heating

Hanover Township is now scheduling in-person appointments for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program program. LIHEAP helps income-eligible households pay for home energy services.

The LIHEAP program will run Oct. 1 through Aug. 13, 2027, or until funds are exhausted. Beginning Oct. 1, residents can apply if someone in the household:

• Is 60 years or older

• Is receiving Social Security disability benefits

• Is younger than 6 years old

• Has had a utility disconnected or received a disconnection notice

Beginning Nov. 1, all other households who are income eligible can apply for energy services.

Applicants must live within Hanover Township and provide all required documentation at the time of the appointment, including:

• Proof of Social Security cards for any new applicants

• Proof of gross income for all household members from the last 30-day period

• A copy of the most current gas and electric bills

Adults 55 and older seeking to schedule an appointment should call the Hanover Township Senior Center, at (630) 483-5660. Residents under the age of 55 should call the Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center, at (630) 540-9085.
