Man charged following stabbing Sunday in Algonquin

A 61-year-old Algonquin man faces multiple charges in connection with a stabbing Sunday in Algonquin.

Richard M. Dobson, of the 2600 block of Christie Drive, is charged with felony aggravated battery — use of a deadly weapon and two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, according to the Algonquin Police Department.

Police said officers were called to the residence on Christie Drive just after 6:15 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a 57-year-old man outside the home with multiple lacerations, including to his chest and face.

The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Dobson appeared in Kane County court Monday, when he was appointed a public defender and released with conditions, including that he surrender any firearms he owns.

He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 7 for a pretrial status hearing.
