Man accused of unlawfully video recording girl in shower

A south suburban man faces charges alleging he secretly recorded a girl while she was taking a shower, according to DuPage County court records.

Nathan Olsson, 21, of the 10200 block of Major Avenue in Oak Lawn, is charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials and unauthorized video recording, records show.

Downers Grove police investigated the case after they received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

According to court documents filed by DuPage County prosecutors, Olsson placed a camera in the bathroom of the 12-year-old girl’s house on Jan. 30 and recorded her taking a shower.

Prosecutors also allege he took still images from the video, used artificial intelligence tools to alter them then shared the images over a messaging app.

DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden on Friday denied prosecutors’ request to detain Olsson, who is scheduled to return to court date Oct. 13.
