On immigration, ‘theories’ of crime

There appears to be a perception that those objecting to illegal immigration do not acknowledge the contributions to American society of immigrants to this nation. No doubt immigrants from Germany, England, China, Japan, France and many other countries have contributed to the success of this country. However, I cannot think of one such person who came to this country illegally.

The people hurt mostly by illegal immigration are those who have waited in line to do so legally. If we are going to allow every person into this country because of persecution we may as well open the doors to half of Iran.

On a second topic there has been a scream of displeasure for a juror in a nationally known case for not willing to find a person innocent by means of insanity for strangling her children. The defense has used the argument of mental disorder and the like.

I am sorry America but no one should be forced to accept a “theory” as to a crime of such hideous nature being committed because of some sort of mental breakdown. Juries are made up of Americans of all walks of life and belief. If you had to accept such a theory, what about the guy who kills his wife in a fit of jealous rage; the guy who shoots a CEO of an insurance company because he denied benefits to his family or a person who assassinates someone because of political beliefs.

This country was created with the understanding no one is perfect and no one should be forced to believe in a single way of thinking.
