Campton Hills church cancels United Fall Fest, set for Sept. 19
Congregational United Church of Christ in Campton Hills recently announced that the 15th annual United Fall Fest has been canceled due to thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday, Sept. 19. Each year, the outdoor event raises money for a local charity.
According to the Sept. 16 Campton Hills village newsletter, festival setup requires several days of heavy equipment moving across a large grassy field to place the tents and equipment. Current conditions have not allowed organizers to adequately prepare. This is the first time in 15 years that the festival has been canceled due to weather.
This year's recipient of the Fall Fest grant of $15,000 is going to Big Hearts of Fox Valley, a local nonprofit that provides support to St. Charles Unit District 303 students and families in need with back-to-school supplies, emergency assistance, and everyday essentials.
