Barrington woman, 41, charged with sexual contact with 16-year-old

A 41-year-old Barrington woman was arrested Tuesday on allegations of having sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy.

Veronica Reyes, of the 500 block of Shorely Drive, was taken to the Lake County jail for a detention hearing. She faces four counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Barrington police said the department received a report on June 8 from another agency regarding a sexual assault within the village. Police said an investigation revealed the alleged sexual contact occurred on multiple occasions on separate dates.

Reyes and the boy were known to each other, police said.

Detectives with the Barrington Police Department, working closely with the Lake County Specialized Victims/Sex Crimes Unit, obtained a warrant on Monday.
