Homeowners need ‘tax certainty’ too

After opening the second installment of my Cook County property tax bill, I fully understand the Chicago Bears’ ploy to threaten to move to Indiana unless they get some “tax certainty” in Illinois. My property taxes increased by $4,723, the vast majority of the increase going to School District 15 ($1,865) and High School District 211 ($1,514).

The Bears will eventually get their tax break and build in Arlington Heights. I only wish the school administrations and Illinois legislators would grant homeowners some “tax certainty” as well. Remember this when you vote in the future.
