Remember warmth of our relationship with Canada

The 25th anniversary of 9/11 serves as a reminder of the unbounded generosity and warm hospitality that the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, extended to Americans when they were stranded there because their flights weren't allowed to enter U.S. airspace.

From the northern reaches of the Gulf of Mexico to the southern tip of Lake Ontario all Americans owe our good neighbors from Canada a debt of gratitude.

We also owe them a heartfelt apology because of President Trump's disrespectful and demeaning comments. His remarks are a national disgrace.
