Kane County Cougars head to the road with one-game lead in playoff series
The Kane County Cougars opened the Miles Wolff Cup East Division Playoffs with a thrilling 9-7 victory over the Lake Country DockHounds at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.
Kane County (1-0) jumped out early behind timely hitting and the long ball. Nick Dalesandro's RBI single gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the first before Zane Spinn launched a two-out solo homer in the second. Josh Allen then crushed a 443-foot home run to center in the fourth, and the Cougars added two more runs to build a 6-0 advantage.
Lake Country (0-1) quickly erased the deficit, scoring seven unanswered runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Joshua Mears' 442-foot two-run homer highlighted the comeback before RBI hits from Jake Snider and the DockHounds put Kane County behind 7-6.
The Cougars continue the best-of-three playoff series with the DockHounds on Friday at DockHounds Ballpark in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
