Elgin-area chamber appoints economic development director
The Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce has appointed Sarosh Saher as economic development director of its Elgin Development Group, a division of the chamber.
Saher, of Elgin, has more than 30 years of progressive experience in community and economic development, including land use planning, urban design, downtown revitalization, TIF administration, historic preservation, and federal grant administration.
He served for 20 years with the city of Elgin as senior planner and, most recently, as community development director of the village of Lake Zurich.
“It’s nice to come back to Elgin after a brief hiatus of 10 years,” Saher said. “I am excited to join the Elgin Development Group and work with the City of Elgin and our stakeholders to support existing businesses, attract new investment, and create economic opportunities that benefit the entire community. From an economic development standpoint, Elgin has all the ingredients that companies look for today — a strategic location, a talented workforce, strong community partners, and a leadership committed to growth.”
Saher’s priorities will be reconnecting with Elgin businesses, community partners, and other stakeholders. “I plan to listen and learn about their needs to better understand their issues, identify opportunities, and provide the support they need to be successful.”
Lindsay Tintera, chamber president and CEO, said Saher’s extensive economic development experience and familiarity with Elgin makes him “an excellent fit for the Elgin Development Group and its mission to support business growth and investment throughout our community.”
The Elgin Development Group earned AEDO accreditation in recognition of its excellence, professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise in economic development. It provides comprehensive support to existing and prospective businesses, connecting companies with resources, partners, and assistance to help them navigate challenges, expand their operations, and invest in the Elgin community.
