Aurora church to host blessing of peace pole

St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Aurora will bless a peace pole on Sunday, Sept. 13.

On the annual Rally Day, the blessing will be held after the 10 a.m. worship in a front garden at the church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive.

Congregant Kathy Bloom, pole coordinator, said the pole will display "May Peace Prevails on Earth" in eight languages. "It will also be registered," Bloom said, "with Worldpeace.org. "For every peace pole ordered, Worldpeace.org partners with Trees for the Future and plants 10 trees in Africa in St. Mark's name."

She added, "The mission of May Peace Prevail on Earth is to inspire and spread a message of peace throughout the world. Peace poles act as beacons of hope, inspiring people to come together and work towards a more peaceful world.”

May Peace Prevail on Earth International (Worldpeace.org), a Wassaic, N.Y. nonprofit, offers peace poles. The organization is associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information.
