Naperville police investigate shots fired off Route 59

Naperville police on Friday night responded to the 600 block of South Route 59 for a report of shots fired, officials said Saturday.

An investigation remains active, but officials said there is no threat to the public.

About 9:19 p.m., police were dispatched to South Route 59, near the intersection at Aurora Avenue, according to Naperville officials.

Officers spoke to a witness who said there were two vehicles involved, and the people in the cars had fled the scene, police said in a news release.

Officers identified the vehicles, and interviewed those they suspected to have fired the shots. The people involved knew each other, police said.

There was no evidence anyone had been injured as a result of the shooting. No charges have been filed, police said.
