FamilyForward to host annual fundraiser Oct. 9 for local families

On Friday, Oct. 9, Arlington Heights-based nonprofit FamilyForward will host its annual fundraiser event to help local families.

This year, the event is called “One Step Beyond: Celebrating Progress, Creating Possibility.” Headlining the event as guest host will be local news anchor Rob Hughes from ABC 7 Chicago. The entire community is invited to participate in this engaging and inspirational gathering to support FamilyForward’s work to empower low-income families across the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

One Step Beyond will take place 6-10 p.m. at Rolling Green Country Club, 2525 E. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. The evening includes dinner, with participants selecting from three entrée options when they register, as well as a gourmet dessert. Attendees will also enjoy an open bar with beer and wine.

One Step Beyond will feature a program designed to inform and inspire in a celebration of the progress of the families assisted by FamilyForward. Additional activities will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a live appeal to raise funds for families. Suggested attire for this event is smart casual.

“At this uplifting event, our goal is to help our participants and supporters to discover — and celebrate — the impact we are making as a community, empowering hard-working parents to build brighter futures for their children,” said FamilyForward’s Executive Director Beverly Worthington.

One program highlight will be the opportunity to learn how families’ lives have been changed by participating in the two-year targeted, intensive program at FamilyForward. This year’s goal is to raise at least $100,000 to help client families as they continue to grapple with the ever-rising costs of rental housing and other inflationary expenses, all while working to provide a safe and secure environment for their children.

“At FamilyForward, our mission is to equip parents with the skills and confidence they need to manage their finances, maintain stable housing, navigate challenges and achieve long-term financial and family independence. We do this through rental support and other financial assistance, as well as focused, personalized, one-on-one guidance from mentors. This fundraiser is key to our success,” Worthington said.

Registration is $130 per person. Visit family-forward.org/one-step-beyond for more details and to register by Sept. 30. Event partnerships and donations of silent-auction items, goods and services are also welcome, through Sept. 15.
