Prost! Itasca Oktoberfest returns for 18th year on Sept. 11-12

One of Itasca’s favorite fall traditions is almost here! Oktoberfest returns to Washington Park on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12, bringing two days of German food, live music, competitions, and Oktoberfest traditions.

Now in its 18th year, Oktoberfest continues to be a celebration of community while supporting local charities, including the Itasca Walk-In Ministry and Food Pantry.

The weekend begins with the tapping of the first keg with Itasca Mayor Jeff Pruyn at 5 p.m., followed by Alpine Thunder Band from 7 to 10 p.m. at the park, 350 E. Irving Park Road. Admission is free.

On Saturday, the festival continues from 3 to 10:30 p.m. The Euro Express Band will perform from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by Johnny Wagner Band from 7 to 10 p.m.

This year’s celebration will feature returning favorites and new ways to join the fun.

Stein holding contest

Challenge your family and friends on Prime Time Racing’s stock car racing simulator. Take the wheel, put your racing skills to the test, and see who can post the fastest time.

Kids Corner

Oktoberfest fun isn’t just for adults! Little festival-goers can enjoy games, activities, and plenty of fun until 7 p.m. at the Kids Corner, brought to you by the Itasca Community Library and Itasca Park District.

German food and music

Renate’s German Restaurant will be serving traditional favorites including spaetzle, schnitzel, wurst, pork roast, and sauerkraut while live entertainment keeps the celebration going throughout the weekend.
