Man seriously injured in Saturday morning crash in East Dundee
A crash late Saturday morning in East Dundee involving an SUV and a dump truck resulted in injuries requiring an extrication, according to the East Dundee and Countryside Fire Protection District.
The crash occurred around 11:41 a.m. at the intersection of East Main Street and Commonwealth Drive, according to authorities.
A male occupant of the SUV was trapped inside, according to fire department officials.
A preliminary investigation indicates the collision occurred in an eastbound turn lane on East Main Street near the intersection.
Firefighters extricated and stabilized the trapped man within 11 minutes. They originally requested a medical helicopter, but canceled that request and transported the critically ill patient to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates via ambulance.
The man’s current condition is unknown, officials said.
Paramedics evaluated and released another person at the scene.
East Main Street was partially closed. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the East Dundee Police Department.
