Chicago Dogs drop fifth straight game

Despite what was an entertaining game that had some fun milestones and moments in it, the Chicago Dogs dropped their fifth straight to the Gary SouthShore Railroaders by a final of 9-1 on Saturday evening.

Only one pitcher on the evening recorded a scoreless evening, and that pitcher was former big-league outfielder Aaron Altherr. He came in to pitch the eighth inning with Chicago down 9-1, and despite giving up a walk, didn’t allow a runner past first base, inducing an inning-ending double play to finish off his night.

Grant Cherry also had an impressive outing, as he gave up just one run on a solo homer in his three innings of relief. Outside of those two appearances, there were not many positives to take away from the pitching side of things.

The big story offensively for Chicago on Saturday was Chance Sisco, who earned his 1,000th and 1,001st hits as a professional. He also scored the only run of the game for the Dogs on a Nick Roselli sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Chicago managed just three hits outside of Sisco’s two, and went down without much of a fight offensively.
