Utility work to close lanes on South Third St. in St. Charles starting Aug. 31
As part of St. Charles’ 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project, storm and sanitary utility structure replacement work will take place on South Third Street from Aug. 31 through Sept. 4. The work will require partial road closures daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes. On-street parking along South Third Street will not be available during the day while work is taking place.
The South Third Street closures begin at 7 a.m.:
• Monday, Aug. 31: Southbound lanes will be closed from Route 64 (Main Street) to Walnut Street.
• Tuesday, Sept. 1: Northbound lanes will be closed from Route 64 (Main Street) to Walnut Street.
• Wednesday, Sept. 2: Southbound lanes will be closed from Walnut Street to Illinois Street.
• Thursday, Sept. 3: Northbound lanes will be closed from Walnut Street to Indiana Street.
On Friday, Sept. 4, southbound lanes will be closed from 423 S. Third Street to Prairie Street. Beginning at 10 a.m., northbound lanes will be closed from Oak Street to Indiana Street.
