SBA taking loan applications for July 27 storm relief

The Small Business Administration has issued a disaster declaration related to the severe storms and tornadoes that struck the Chicago area on July 27.

The declaration allows homeowners, renters, businesses and some nonprofit organizations to apply for low-interest loans to help cover losses not fully covered by insurance. The declaration covers DuPage, Cook, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.

Residents and businesses can apply online at lending.sba.gov/search-disaster/?disaster=IL-20035. They can also apply in person from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at Hazel Crest Village Hall, 3601 W. 183rd St., or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at University Park Town Center, 90 Town Center Drive, University Park, through Sept. 8.

Applications for physical damage are due Oct. 19. Applications for economic injury are due May 18.
