Huntley man dies from injuries suffered in ATV crash

A 47-year-old Huntley man seriously injured in an ATV crash over the weekend has died, authorities said Wednesday.

Ty Barton died as a result of head injuries suffered in the single-vehicle crash, the Lake County coroner’s office reported.

Authorities said first responders from the Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department found Barton unconscious at about 4:25 p.m. Sunday while responding to a crash in the 11200 block of Myrtle Street.

He was taken with life-threatening injuries to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, officials said.

Despite care and treatment, he was pronounced dead in the intensive care unit Tuesday evening, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Huntley Police Department.
