Ikea among new businesses opening at Gurnee Mills this fall

Gurnee Mills on Tuesday announced a host of new retailers opening this fall at the state’s third-largest mall.

The biggest name among those is Ikea’s new 66,000-square-foot store — smaller than the massive full-size stores in Schaumburg and Bolingbrook — opening in a portion of the former Sears Grand Store at the Gurnee shopping center at 6170 W. Grand Ave.

The Swedish furniture giant is converting the space to showcase more than 5,000 products. Full planning services also will be available to help create kitchens, wardrobes, living rooms, storage and more. The company’s new format store will be its third location in Illinois. It will offer home furnishing accessories and small furniture for delivery or free store pick up. The store is located in Parking Lot B next to Hobby Lobby.

The village of Gurnee offered $2 million in incentives to land the retail giant. Ikea is expected to generate $2.9 million in sales tax over six years and the village expects to come out $900,000 ahead.

Fashion Q, a women’s fast fashion and apparel store, will open in September near the mall’s Entry B. Nali Jewelers, a family-owned fine jewelry store featuring an assortment of high-quality pieces, also will open next month near Entry E.

Archive Room, which offers deadstock vintage grails to modern luxury essentials, is expected to open in October near Entry C.

Also opening in October are Sophia’s Mexican Grill, offering traditional Mexican street eats, in Dining Pavilion North near Entry J, and Toys ‘R’ Us near Entry A.

Mall visitors also can explore several new retail & entertainment destinations including Abuela’s, AJ’s Putt ‘N’ Play, Chocolate Moonshine Co. and Rally House.

Come spring, Sky Zone trampoline park, a leader in indoor active entertainment designed for families, will open its new location featuring multiple private party rooms and a Fuel Zone with food and refreshments near Entry J.
