South Elgin man gets 14 years in prison for disseminating child pornography

A South Elgin man was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to disseminating child sexual abuse materials.

Kristofer R. McMullen, 47, of the 600 block of Elizabeth Street, pleaded guilty Friday in Kane County Circuit Court. He sent a child sexual abuse materials video file, depicting a child under the age of 13, to an undercover investigator for the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Child Exploitation Unit.

McMullen will have to serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole, and will have to register for life as a sex offender. McMullen pleaded guilty in 2009 to possession of child sexual abuse materials and was sentenced to 2½ years in prison and lifetime sex offender registration.
