Algonquin man accused of sexual abuse, grooming child
An Algonquin man is being detained pretrial on charges he groomed and sexually abused a child.
The McHenry County state’s attorney’s office Thursday announced charges against Victor Hugo Agaton-Mora, 29.
He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child, child luring, and grooming, all felonies. He is also charged with misdemeanor distributing harmful material to a minor, according to a news release.
Algonquin police began investigating the case in July. They interviewed a child and learned that the child and Agaton-Mora had communicated through Snapchat and TextNow apps, authorities said.
Detectives found sexually explicit text and telephone communications between the two, according to the news release, and that Agaton-Mora met the child and engaged in sexual conduct multiple times in June.
His next court date is Sept. 3.
