Kane County Cougars snap long losing streak against Milwaukee
The Kane County Cougars (44-36) snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Milwaukee Milkmen (48-34) Wednesday night, earning a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Northwestern Medicine Field behind another outstanding pitching performance and timely late offense.
Vin Timpanelli turned in one of his strongest starts of the season, while Todd Lott and Nick Dalesandro delivered the decisive hits as the Cougars evened the series.
Both starters traded zeros through the first three innings. Timpanelli stranded runners in scoring position in both the first and third, while Milwaukee left-hander Juan Diaz retired nine-in-a-row after giving up a single in the second.
The Milkmen broke through in the fourth when Griffin Doersching doubled for the second time and scored on Andy Blake's RBI triple. Kane County avoided further damage thanks to a perfect throw from left fielder Nick Dalesandro, who cut down Blake at the plate attempting to score on a sacrifice fly.
