Buffalo Grove Community Foundation hosts first wellness fair Sunday
The Buffalo Grove Community Foundation will host its first Community Services and Wellness Fair on Sunday.
The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mike Rylko Community Park, 1000 N. Buffalo Grove Road. It will be held next to the weekly Buffalo Grove Farmers Market, so visitors can visit the produce and food stands before attending the fair.
Attendees can learn about local services, nonprofit organizations, health and wellness providers, schools, service clubs and community groups. Resource tables, information booths, health screenings, children’s activities, safety demonstrations, games and giveaways will be offered.
Jeff Weiss, a member of the community foundation board, said there will be 30 exhibitors, including the Buffalo Grove 4C STEM Club, a group of middle school students who focus on education, service, and community engagement, and the Buffalo Grove Fire Department’s MobileComm vehicle.
In addition, Vitalant will host a blood drive. Weiss said blood drive is hugely important.
“Right now, we’re having a crisis in availability of blood for transfusions,” he said. “We’re hopeful of getting a good response from the community.”
Donors may make appointments by calling Vitalant at (877) 258-4825 or visiting donors.vitalant.org with the code ORD0BG98. Walk-ins also are welcome.
Sponsors include the Village of Buffalo Grove, the Buffalo Grove Park District, Vitalant, GiGi’s Playhouse, Partners in Aging and the Pinta Pride Project.
