In its ongoing effort to Make America Healthy Again, the Trump administration intends to end a subsidy program that helped hold down premiums for Medicare drug plans. The result — people with Medicare Part D plans could face higher premiums for prescription coverage next year.

The federal government will spend an estimated $3.6 billion in 2026 on the prescription drug subsidy program. For perspective, $3.6 billion would pay for one Tomahawk cruise missile, not quite one Patriot air defense interceptor, or some smaller weaponry that’s being fired off like Fourth of July firecrackers in the illegal, immoral and insane war against Iran.

News about the pending end of the drug subsidy program comes just weeks after we learned that measles cases in America are at a 35-year high, according to Johns Hopkins University. The U.S. declared measles eliminated in 2000, a time when advice from medical professionals and scientists was often believed and followed.

But that elimination status is threatened by ongoing disinformation and quackery from social media hucksters, pseudo-doctors and a gullible electorate, creating mistrust of vaccines.

Voting matters. When it comes to health and safety, it can be a matter of life or death.
