Early morning fire in vacant Aurora apartment building under investigation

The Aurora Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire at a vacant apartment building on the city’s east side early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the former Aurora Housing Authority apartments on the 1600 block of Northeast Drive just before 1 a.m. to find significant fire throughout the building’s second floor, officials said.

The fire was brought under control using a ladder truck, officials said.
