Naperville’s Alleluia! Lutheran celebrates back-to-school with Rally Day Aug. 30

Alleluia! Lutheran Church in Naperville welcomes the community to its annual Rally Day back-to-school celebration on Sunday, Aug. 30, starting at 11 a.m. in the church’s parking lot, located at 103rd Street and Book Road.

Rally Day, which is free and open to the public, will feature bounce houses, face painting, bingo for all ages and a cookout. Vegetarian lunch options will be available, and guests can sample homemade sweets at a cookie potluck.

Representatives from the church’s mission and ministry groups, as well as the Little Blessings Preschool, will be on hand to share information about the many education, service and fellowship opportunities available for all ages in the coming year. Wednesday night programs for children in kindergarten to third grade and fourth and fifth grade, as well as confirmation for middle school students and Sunday youth group for high school students, resume in September.

“Fall brings its own excitement and energy, but there’s also a busier rhythm to life as school starts and extracurricular activities ramp up,” said Pastor Joel Vander Wal, lead pastor at Alleluia! Lutheran. “Rally Day at Alleluia! is a day to celebrate our intergenerational community, our connections to one another and our commitments to our journey of faith as we kick off fall ministries.”

The Alleluia! annual tradition is “a great chance for our community to gather, meet some new folks and reconnect with friends after summer break,” added April Blair, children’s ministry director at Alleluia! “There really is something for everyone.”
