A mockery in the making
Many of us who witnessed the Jan. 6 nightmare taking place in the Majestic heart of our country are still hurting. I was not there but the TV. Brought us almost into the fray. It was a frightening, barbaric display of anger. The barbarians we’re being egged on by their sullen, angry leader. There seemed to be no end in sight to rescue our historic buildings.
Yes. The TV could have been turned off but my memories of that beautiful part of our country kept me focused. As a senior citizen, I was emotionally distraught. To witness this mayhem. I have had the privilege of visiting our Capitol several times and was always in awe of its beauty and sense of permanence
Now our country’s leader has allocated more than $1 billion for those who claim to be “victims” of the assault upon our Capitol. Many of us suffered. It seemed as though our United States had become a Third World Country where violence was a common occurrence.
I can accept a payout for the emotional trauma I suffered. I will always remember the beauty of D.C. but can never forget those who tried to destroy it.
Hail to the chief and send me my cash balm.
