Major electric infrastructure upgrade coming to Geneva neighborhoods

The city of Geneva will enhance electric service reliability by replacing underground utility cable along Miller Road and the Blackberry neighborhood starting in late August.

The 2026-27 underground electric replacement program areas include:

• Miller Road east of Lewis Road: Aug. 24 to Sept. 4

• Wakefield Lane, north of Williamsburg Avenue: Sept. 7 to Oct. 2

• Clover Lane: Oct. 5-30

• Paddock Court: Nov. 2-13

• Cambridge Drive from Williamsburg Avenue to Clover Lane: Nov. 16 to Dec. 4

Construction dates are estimates and are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Landscape restoration will commence in the spring after construction is completed.

The city’s contractor, Utility Dynamics, will be installing conduit through utility easements and public right-of-way. Electrical transformers, pedestals and street lights also will be replaced.

During the latter part of each project, the contractor will energize and connect homes to the new equipment. Scheduled power outages will be required as part of this process. The city will be sending notifications in advance of any service disruption.
