St. Charles man injured when e-bike hits truck in Geneva

A 52-year-old St. Charles man was seriously injured Friday when the e-bike he was riding hit a box truck on East Side Drive in Geneva, authorities said.

The crash happened around 1:29 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates the man was traveling east on High Street when he failed to stop or yield at a stop sign at East Side, according to a news release from the city.

The e-bike hit the folded ramp on the rear of a box truck heading south, authorities said.

Officials said the man was transported unconscious to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was in critical condition.

As of late Friday afternoon, East Side was closed from Geneva Drive to Division Street while the crash was being investigated.
