Two people killed in fiery crash on I-88 near Aurora

Two people are dead after an early morning crash on Interstate 88 in Aurora.

Illinois State Police said the two-vehicle crash occurred at about 12:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-88 near Eola Road.

One vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when emergency workers arrived on scene, authorities said.

State police said two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Eastbound lanes were closed until just before 5:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
