No injuries in townhouse fire in Elgin Monday night
No one was injured during a fire that damaged a townhouse on Elgin’s east side Monday night.
According to a news release from the city, Elgin firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Keystone Court at about 9:06 p.m. on Aug. 3 to find smoke coming from the end unit of a six-unit townhouse complex.
The four occupants of the townhouse evacuated before the fire department arrived, and crews brought the fire under control in about 18 minutes.
The home sustained extensive fire and smoke damage with cost estimates exceeding $200,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
