Elgin police investigating after woman suffers gunshot wound Monday night

Police are investigating after a woman suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound Monday night in Elgin.

According to a social media post from the Elgin Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 10:45 p.m. Aug. 3 to the 700 block of Wilson Street after getting a report of shots fired.

The officers located the adult woman, who was then taken to the hospital.

Detectives from the Special Investigations Group and Major Investigations Division are actively investigating the incident.

Police ask that anyone with helpful information call (847) 289-2600. The public can also text a tip to 847411. Include “ELGINPD” at the beginning of the text message along with the message and/or tip information.
